Department welcomes associate professor Heng Du

Heng Du

We would like to welcome Associate Professor Heng Du to the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology. Du was an assistant research professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and KU’s Higuchi Bioscience Research Center from 2011-2013. He moved to the University of Texas in 2013 as an assistant professor and was promoted to the title of associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences.

Du is well-funded and brings with him a large group of researchers from Texas. Research members include Lan Guo, assistant research professor; Chunxiao Yu, postdoctoral researcher; and Feng Xue, postdoctoral researcher. Du also brings graduate students Jing Tian, Hao Chen, Tienju Wang and Kun Jia, who are fortunate to have Du as a mentor.

Du is doing exciting research to understand the mechanisms involved in neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease to develop novel therapeutics. He will be an excellent complement to the department’s and university’s strengths in Alzheimer’s disease research.
