Research Overview

Much of the effort of current Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) research has been dedicated to identifying useful biomarkers for AD diagnosis and risk assessment. Structural and functional brain connectivity have emerged as potential biomarkers of AD, and may inform the pathophysiology of dementia. Connectivity changes over the disease course may help bridge the molecular view of AD as a disorder of abnormally aggregated proteins with the clinical understanding of AD as a collection of cognitive symptoms. My project aims to characterize the nature of functional connectivity changes in aging and dementia across diverse cohorts, and to specifically relate these changes to neurometabolism and metabolic risk factor.
