Ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke and occurs as a result of an obstruction of blood circulation to an area of the brain.  Ischemic stroke can result in a series of neuropathological events that lead to neuronal loss.  The mechanism underlying ischemia-induced neuronal injuries has not been fully understood so, more research needs to be done to gain substantial new information regarding  this mechanism.  The goal of our research in this area is to understand the molecular mechanisms that are responsible for cell death in the ischemic brain.
