In the Pharmacology & Toxicology Department at Virginia Commonwealth University I earned my Ph.D. studying the role of the endocannabinoid system in the development and treatment of breast cancer.  During my graduate studies my interests expanded beyond cancer to the interaction between diabetes and its neurodegenerative and neoplastic comorbidities.  This led me to Dr. Dobrowsky's lab here at the University of Kansas where he studies pharmacological treatments for, and the underlying mechanism of, diabetic peripheral neuropathy.  My current research is looking at ER stress in the high fat diet-induced diabetic model of peripheral neuropathy and its effects on the interaction between schwann and neuronal cells.
