P&TX 750 Pharmacology I- Introduction to Pharmacology and Biotechnology
An introduction to the basic principles of biochemistry and molecular biology as well as pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drug action. Additional lectures will introduce students to principles of genomics, transgenic technologies and microscopy. Prerequisite: Graduate standing in the Distance M.S. A detailed study of the fundamental concepts of endocrinology with an emphasis on the pathophysiologic details of diabetes and the pharmacology of treatment. Brief discussions on hypothalamic/pituitary, reproductive, thyroid and adrenal endocrinology and pharmacology will be presented. Prerequisite: Graduate standing in the Distance M.S.
